Leroy Ostransky (born Jan. 17, 1918; died Oct. 11, 1993) was a composer, author, and a professor of music at the University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Washington. An expert on jazz, he was widely recognized for his contributions to education and the arts. He earned his B.A. from the College of Puget Sound in 1948; M.A. from New York University, 1951, and Ph.
